COLUMBIA, Ky. - Lindsey Wilson College sophomore David Mutuse is the Mid-South Conference Men's Runner of the Week.

Mutuse, a Wote-Makueno, Kenya, native, earned the honor after his dominating performance this past weekend at the Berea (Ky.) College Invitational.

The sophomore won the men's portion of the Berea Invitational with a time of 26 minutes and 10 seconds over the 8,000 meter course. Mutuse finished nearly one minute ahead of second place finisher Chase Wilson of Centre (Ky.) College.

Mutuse led the Blue Raiders to a third place finish as a team.

This is the second straight year Mutuse has won the Berea Invitational. Last season he finished with a time of 26:39 leading Lindsey Wilson to a first place finish as a team.

The conference honor is the first of the season for Mutuse and the second in his career. Last year Mutuse won the award after finishing first overall in the Wilmington (NC) College Classic on October 12.

Overall in his career, Mutuse has three first place finishes.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, as the Blue Raiders travel to Louisville, Ky. For the Greater Louisville Classic.
