WILMINGTON, Ohio -- A pair of Lindsey Wilson College women's cross country runners finished in the top 25 today at the Wilmington (Ohio) College Fall Classic.

Lindsey Wilson junior Monicah Maiyo finished 17th and senior Cassie Niersel crossed the line in 22nd to help the Blue Raiders score 271 points for a ninth place finish in the 24-team field.

John Carroll (Ohio) University won the event with 71 points.

Maiyo completed the 5,000 meters in 19 minutes and 50 seconds while Niersel completed the Wilmington course in a time of 20:03.

The trio of freshman Alicia Mattingly, junior Amanda Johnson and sophomore Nicole Furnish finished within six places of one another.

Mattingly finished with a time of 22:15 for a 92nd place, Johnson finished five seconds later for 94th and Furnish ended with a time of 22:26 and a 101st place finish in the 210-woman field.

Denison (Ohio) University's Katie Navarre won the event with a time of 18:23.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 25 as the Blue Raiders travel to the Southeastern Classic in Rome, Ga.
