EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- Lindsey Wilson College freshman Roberto Vergara finished seventh in the Men's 5,000 meter Race Walk today at the NAIA Outdoor National Championships at Ralph Korte Stadium.

Vergara finished the 5,000 meters with a time of 24 minutes and 4.97 seconds to help the Blue Raiders earn two points toward the team's total.

The Edinburg, Texas, native, just missed All-American honors by one spot. The top six finishers in each event earn the NAIA honor.

Freshman Ricardo Vergara finished just outside the points with a ninth place finish. He finished with a time of 24:58.92. Freshman Evan Crowdus started the event but did not finish.

British Columbia junior Inaki Gomez won the event with a time of 20:41.11.

The final member of the Lindsey Wilson men's track and field team -- senior Koji Hashiyama -- is scheduled to complete on Saturday in the Men's Half-Marathon.
