COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Mid-South Conference announced Lindsey Wilson College women's cross country as the favorite to win the league title, according to the coaches' poll released on Thursday.

The Blue Raiders received three first-place votes and collected 32 overall points to edge Campbellsville (Ky.) University by a single point. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.

While Campbellsville took the MSC title last season, Lindsey Wilson captured the 2006 and 2007 titles.

Last season, LWC finished second at the MSC Championships led by senior Monicah Maiyo, who finished fifth with a time of 20 minutes and 34.85 seconds. Maiyo and senior Amanda Johnson returns after earning all-conference honors last season.

Campbellsville was projected second with 31 points and three first-place votes, Georgetown (Ky.) College is picked third with 25 points, including the final first-place tally. University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) received 22 points to take fourth.

MSC newcomer University of Rio Grande (Ohio) placed fifth in the poll with 18 points, while Pikeville (Ky.) College (13 points) and West Virginia University Tech (6) are sixth and seventh, respectively.
