COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College volleyball team struggled down the stretch today as the Blue Raiders dropped their season opener 3-0 to visiting Union (Ky.) College at Biggers Sports Center.

Lindsey Wilson (0-1) led in each of the three games but couldn't maintain the momentum en route to the 22-25, 23-25, 24-26 loss. Union -- also playing their season opener -- improves to 1-0 on the season.

Lindsey Wilson junior Racheal Achieng led the Blue Raiders with seven kills in the match and a .357 hitting percentage. Freshman Ashley Haworth added six kills in her collegiate debut.

Senior setter Sarah Kline led the team with 18 assists and sophomore Rachael Anderson recorded a team-high 13 digs.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 6 p.m. CT on Tuesday, September 1, as the Blue Raiders travel to Indiana University-Southeast in New Albany, Ind.
