COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College volleyball team held strong through the halfway point of each set before eighth ranked Georgetown (Ky.) College pulled away to win the match 3-0 Tuesday at Biggers Sports Center.

The Blue Raiders drop to 3-18 and 3-4 in the Mid-South Conference with the 25-15, 25-21, 25-17 loss. The Tigers improve to 27-2 and 8-0 in the MSC.

Lindsey Wilson junior Racheal Achieng led the Blue Raider attack with 10 kills and only two attack errors for a .267 hitting percentage. Senior Sarah Kline boosted the offense with five kills, while dishing out a team-high 20 assists.

Georgetown was led by a host of attackers with 11 different Tigers registering kills in the game. Freshman Amanda Philpot reached double figures in assists and digs with 29 and 12, respectively.

Te first set started as a back-and-forth affair with 10 ties in the first 20 points. After a kill by Kline tied the score at 10-10, Georgetown created some space on the scoreboard with three straight kills.

Leading 15-12, Tiger senior Amy Barmore put on a serving clinic, registering three consecutive service aces to put Georgetown in control of the set for good with an 18-12 lead. The Blue Raiders mustered just three more points as the Tigers took the first set 25-15.

A multitude of errors by Georgetown in the middle of the second set put Lindsey Wilson in position to tie the score at 17-17 after an unassisted kill by Kline.

The Blue Raiders, however, couldn't maintain any momentum and were the victim of two kills in a row by Georgetown senior Alexandra Bertke. With the Tigers up 20-17 after an attack error by Achieng, the wind had been knocked out of the fighting Blue Raiders.

Georgetown continued to a 25-21 second-set win despite giving Lindsey Wilson three points on errors late in the frame.

The Tigers controlled the third set from the start, building a 10-point lead (21-11) as they neared match point.

Trailing 17-11, Lindsey Wilson was hit with two kills and two service aces from Georgetown, coupled with a service error by sophomore Rachael Anderson as the Tigers pulled out of reach, winning 25-17.

Three players finished the game with double digits in digs for Lindsey Wilson as freshman Ashlie Haworth collected a team-high 18, followed by Kline with 15 and freshman Andrea Taylor with 12.

The Blue Raiders tallied a .106 hitting percentage as a team, while Georgetown posted a .244 team mark.
