GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's indoor track & field team finished 12th at the DePauw (Ind.) University Invitational on Saturday at the Hollensteiner Track.
The Blue Raiders scored 21 points as a team and set a program record in the one-day event.
Lindsey Wilson freshman Jairus Kipkemboi captured the only win of the day with a first-place finish in the 3,000-meter run. Kipkemboi earned 10 points with his time of 8 minutes and 57.02 seconds.
He beat his nearest competitor by more than 12 seconds.
Fellow freshman Benjamin Joseph set the program's record in the pole vault at 11 feet and 5.75 inches (3.50 meters). Joseph earned a point for his finish. He bested the previous record by nearly two feet.
The 4x200 meter relay team added five points to the team's total with a fourth place finish. The team finished with a time of 1:35.49. The Mississippi College relay team won the event with a time of 1:33.76.
The Blue Raider 4x400 relay team also added points with a ninth place finish. The team scored two points with a time of 3:52.96.
Freshman Kevin Rono finished seventh in the 800-meter run to earn two points towards the Blue Raiders total. His time of 2:06.07 was 10 seconds behind winner Robert Willett of Birmingham-Southern (Ala.) University.
Junior Jerome Thomas scored a point for his eighth place finish in the 400-meter dash. Thomas competed the 400 meters in 54 seconds flat. Illinois College's Mark Hughes captured the event with a time of 52.04 seconds.
University of Indianapolis (Ind.) captured the team title with 115 points.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Saturday, February 20 as they return to Greencastle for the DePauw Indoor Classic.
