COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College cycling team hosts some of the best cycling teams in the region this weekend.

The Blue Raiders look to build on their lead in the Midwest Collegiate Cycling Conference after a strong weekend last week at Murray State University.

Saturday's schedule includes a Team Time Trial and six different road races. The weekend's racing concludes on Sunday with the Criterium.

The races take place throughout some of the less traveled roads in Adair County. However, LWC coach David Grigsby wishes to remind those that encounter the riders to take caution.

"During the race we hope that all motorists who encounter these groups will show courtesy, patience, and give them plenty of room on the road," Grigsby said. "The safety of these student-athletes from colleges all over the Midwest is our primary concern.

"It is also our hope that residents along the routes will secure their pets for the safety of the riders and the pets."

Below is a list of the race course used this weekend.

Saturday

8 a.m. CT -- Team Time Trial

The event begins at the Kelleyville Church on Hwy 682 and travel to the turn-around point at the intersection of 682 and Holmes Bend Road.

Corner marshals will be stationed at the various turns to help control traffic, and wave riders through uninhibited.

Sunday

8 a.m. CT -- Criterium

The criterium is at the Adair County High School. Course will use be gated off behind and around the school to ensure the safety of the riders.

For those unfamiliar with road bike racing, this is Tour De France style racing and is very demanding with groups racing from 25 to 75 miles over very hilly terrain.

Over 200 cyclists will be racing in various categories with both lead and follow vehicles to help ensure the safety of the riders as they race from 1 to 3 laps of these routes.
