JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- Lindsey Wilson College junior Nicole Furnish earned NAIA All-American honors today at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships.
Furnish finished fifth in the women's 3,000 meter race walk with a time of 14 minutes and 44.13 seconds. Furnish earned the first two Lindsey Wilson points of the national championship with her finish.
The Bardstown, Ky., native, earned All-American honors for the second consecutive season. All-American honors are reserved for the top-five in each event at the national championships.
Senior Amanda Johnson finished seventh in the event with a personal-best 15:19.36. Johnson's finish was one place out of scoring in the event. Freshman Chelsea Conway finished ninth with a time of 16:14.26.
Lindenwood (Mo.) University sophomore Jessica Ching captured the title with a time of 14:25.38. She won the event by 10 seconds over her nearest competitor.
Lindsey Wilson senior Kristina Wimsatt finished 18th in the women's long jump. Wimsatt jumped 17 feet and 2.25 inches (5.24 meters) in the 22-woman field.
Lindenwood's Francine Simpson won the national title with a jump of 20-10.0 feet (6.35 meters).
The Blue Raiders currently sit tied for 20th in the team championships with two points.
