COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College baseball team racked up 20 hits for 15 runs as it swept Alice Lloyd (Ky.) College in a doubleheader on Saturday at Lindsey Wilson Park. The Blue Raiders won game one 11-1 in sixth innings and shutout the Eagles in game two 4-0.
First baseman Zach Prichard led the way in game one, going 3-for-3 at the plate with four runs scored, while designated hitter Craig Mosier also went 3-for-3, adding a run and three RBI.
Drew Barrett broke the second game open with a two RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning that helped ease the pressure of just a one-run lead.
Luis Parra earned the complete-game win in game one, pitching 6.0 innings while giving up just one run and walking only two with 11 strikeouts. Parra improved to 2-0 on the season with the win. Jeremy Greene earned the win in game two, pitching 7.0 innings of shutout baseball with 10 strikeouts, while giving up just two hits.
Lindsey Wilson led just 2-1 after three innings in game one, but exploded over the next three innings with nine runs to post the mercy-rule win in six innings. The big inning occurred in the fifth as third baseman Max Rhodes led things off with a solo home run that was followed by three singles and a double to add four runs and lead 8-1.
Alice Lloyd pitcher Charles Toohey had control problems in the sixth inning that led to Prichard getting hit and a wild pitch that set up a single by Mosier that scored the winning runs.
Game two was won in the first inning as second baseman Heath Barnes led off the game with a walk and stolen base, allowing him to score the winning run on a sacrifice fly by centerfielder Dustin Murphy.
The Blue Raiders scattered just four hits and committed two errors in the win. Barnes finished 1-for-2 with two runs scores, Barrett picked up a hit and two RBI, while left fielder Jeff Murphy tallied a hit for two RBI. Pinch hitter Mikey Brown collected the final hit for the Blue Raiders.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at noon CT on Sunday, Match 7 for a doubleheader against Davenport (Mich.) University at Lindsey Wilson Park.
