CLEVELAND, Tenn. -- Arlene Ferreira tallied 10 kills and six digs to lead fourth ranked Lee (Tenn.) University to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-13) win against the Lindsey Wilson College volleyball team on Monday at Walker Arena.

Junior Kayla Koeber, sophomore Ashlie Haworth and freshman Audra McNabney led the Blue Raiders with seven kills each. Koerber connected on 7-of-15 attacks for a .333 hitting percentage.

Newcomer Emily Meeks paced the Lindsey Wilson defense with a solo block and two assists, while junior Rachael Anderson put in a strong effort at the libero position with 12 digs.

Despite slow starts in every set, falling behind by at least 3-0 in all three, Lindsey Wilson recovered well, while the Flames didn't help their cause with seven service errors.

Capitalizing on Lee mistakes and getting strong defensive play from Anderson, the Blue Raiders closed in to a 11-9 deficit in the second set before athleticism from Lee won out, allowing them to secure the shutout.

As a team, Lindsey Wilson hit for a .066 hitting percentage, while Lee registered a .333 mark. While the Flames committed their share of service errors, they also held a 5-0 service ace advantage.

Apart from the trio of Blue Raiders with seven kills, sophomore Andrea Taylor tallied the most kills with four, connecting on 4-of-7 attempts for a team-high .429 hitting percentage.

Christa Hutchison backed up Ferreira with a successful round of kills, knocking in all nine of her attacks for a perfect hitting mark. Sarah Smith was the Flames defensive leader with 13 digs, while also sending through a pair of service aces.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at the Shawnee State Invitational Tournament, starting Friday, Aug. 27 against Point Park (Pa.) College at 3 p.m. CT. The Blue Raiders also play again on Monday at 5 p.m. against Ohio Northern University.

The tournament continues on Saturday with games against host Shawnee State (Ohio) University and West Virginia Institute of Technology at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., respectively.
