COLUMBIA, Ky. -- With four veterans joining five incoming freshmen, the Lindsey Wilson College men's cross country team was pegged sixth in the 2010 Mid-South Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.

Sophomore Jordan Green returns with the most experience after finishing in 28th place at last year's MSC Championship, while newcomer to the team, sophomore Jairus Kipkemoi provides another quality runner who mainly specializes in long-distance track & field races.

Shawnee State (Ohio) University is projected to win the conference title, in its first season in the MSC. The Bears are coming off a fourth-place finish at last season's NAIA National Championship.

The Bears received 79 voting points from the conference coaches, including eight first-place votes. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.

Defending MSC champion University of Rio Grande (Ohio) is predicted to finish second after receiving 74 points, including the final two first-place votes.

University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) is third in the preseason poll with 66 points and Campbellsville (Ky.) University is fourth with 52 voting points.

Georgetown (Ky.) College (51 points), Lindsey Wilson (43), Pikeville (Ky.) College (30), University of Virginia's College at Wise (24), West Virginia University Tech (19) and St. Catharine College (12) round out the preseason poll.

The MSC Championships are scheduled for Nov. 6 in Portsmouth, Ohio.
