PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- The Lindsey Wilson College volleyball team lost both of its matches at the Shawnee State (Ohio) University Invitational on Friday at the James A. Rhodes Center.

Point Park (Pa.) University topped the Blue Raiders in their first match of the day 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-19). The Pioneers (1-0) beat their second Mid-South Conference opponent in a row after taking apart the University of Rio Grande (Ohio) 3-0 on Thursday.

Point Park finished 32-8 last season and return all but one starter from the team that reached the finals of the American Mideast Conference Tournament.

In its second match of the day, Lindsey Wilson fell to Ohio Northern University 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-17).

The Polar Bears - members of NCAA Division III - opened the season ranked 10th in the NCAA Division III Coaches' Top 25 Preseason Poll.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action in day two of the Shawnee State Invitational at 9 a.m. CT against host 19th ranked Shawnee State, followed by an 11 a.m. match against the West Virginia Institute of Technology.
