PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- Ashlie Haworth slammed home 14 kills and four service aces to lead the Lindsey Wilson College volleyball team to its first win of the season 3-0 (25-10, 25-18, 25-16) against West Virginia Tech on Saturday at the Shawnee State Invitational.

Before topping the Golden Bears, the Blue Raiders lost 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-22) to host 19th ranked Shawnee State (4-0), finishing 1-3 overall at the invitational after dropping matches to Point Park (Pa.) University and Ohio Northern University on Friday.

Junior Kayla Koerber backed up Haworth against West Virginia Tech (0-4) with five kills on just six attempts, while freshman Emily Meeks also tallied a career-high five kills on nine attempts.

Sophomore Angela Mlachnik led the Lindsey Wilson (1-3) defense with a career-high 11 digs, while her classmate Andrea Taylor dished out a career-high 34 assists.

In the loss to the Bears, Haworth paced the attack once again with 11 kills and eight digs. Junior Samantha Camp added four kills and two blocks.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action in the Scott Jones Classic Volleyball Tournament at 3 p.m. CT on Friday. Sept. 3 in Nashville, Tenn., on the campus of Trevecca Nazarene University.

The Blue Raiders play again on Friday at 7 p.m. against Trevecca Nazarene before continuing play on Saturday at 11 a.m. against Brescia (Ky.) University and at 3 p.m. against Cumberland (Tenn.) University.
