Head Coach - 5th Season

David Grigsby begins his fifth season as the Lindsey Wilson College cycling head coach in 2011-12.

Grigsby has continued to keep the Lindsey Wilson cycling name at the top of the national rankings in each of his four seasons. His Blue Raider teams compete on an annual basis for the national title in each of the four cycling disciplines.

Last season, Grigsby led the Blue Raiders to an overall fifth place finish in the USA Cycling Collegiate Division I rankings. The rankings combine each of the four disciplines -- mountain bike, track, cyclo-cross and road -- to determine an overall national champion.

Grigsby's squads were one of just five programs to earn points in each discipline en route to scoring 46 overall points over the year-long competition. The Blue Raiders top finish in 2010-11 came at the mountain bike nationals as Lindsey Wilson secured 16 points for its fifth place finish.

In addition to team-best finish at the mountain bike nationals, Grigsby coached Brittany Bates to an individual national championship in 4-cross. Bates is the third national champion to ride for Grigsby.

In 2009-10, Grigsby led Lindsey Wilson to an overall third-place finish in the final rankings -- the highest overall ranking in the history of the cycling program.

Grigsby is a USA Cycling certified Elite (Level 1) coach and is one of the few power certified cycling coaches in the United States.

While the Lindsey Wilson head coaching position is Grigsby's first in the collegiate ranks, he boasts more than 10 years experience coaching at the professional level. Grigsby coached Tiago Depaula, one of 20 athletes he trains, to the 2007 World Championships Criterium in Las Vegas.

In addition to his coaching, Grigsby is a former competitor at the Bluegrass State Games and in BMX races throughout the United States.

Grigsby graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1990. He and his wife, Karen, have one son, Jeremy and two grandchildren, Avie and Lily.
